Although the next game for the Montreal Canadiens isn't until Wednesday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets, head coach Martin St-Louis has just confirmed that Samuel Montembeault will indeed get the start.
The Quebec goalie is exceptional these days, having won two of his last three duels, all while recording a remarkable goals-against average of 2.03 and a save percentage of 0.933.
He is clearly demonstrating to the management of the Bleu-Blanc-Rouge that he can hold a more significant position in the lineup, as he is currently playing only one out of every three games. Kent Hughes will need to quickly find a solution regarding the famous goaltender situation if he wants Monty to get more playing time.
One thing is certain, if the 27-year-old netminder is able to perform like this on a regular basis, he would undoubtedly deserve the title of number one goalie for the Canadiens.
