WOW: Lane Hutson Stuns With Incredible Play at the World Juniors
The Montreal Canadiens players will have the opportunity to enjoy a well-deserved six-day break to celebrate Christmas with family and friends, as the team's next game is not until December 28th.
However, Montreal fans will be keenly watching the World Junior Championship, where several of the organization's prospects will be in action.
In a preparatory match earlier this afternoon, Canada faced the United States in a highly anticipated duel, as Owen Beck was pitted against two top prospects, Lane Hutson and Jacob Fowler.
Lane Hutson, the 62nd overall pick in the 2022 draft, had an outstanding game, scoring a goal and an assist. The defenseman showed why he is likely the future quarterback of the Canadiens, making several offensive zone penetrations.
He notably helped the U.S. team open the scoring in this match by shaking off an opposing player before delivering a precise pass to his teammate Quinn Finley, who scored on a breakaway with an accurate shot.
Moreover, the defenseman didn't stop there. Despite the Canadian team forcing overtime, Lane Hutson dashed Canada's hopes by scoring a beautiful goal. Evading a player in his own territory, number 20 then capitalized on a mistake by Owen Beck to face Samuel St-Hilaire alone, beating him with a sharp shot to the glove side.
There is no doubt that the 19-year-old has immense talent, and it will be very interesting to follow his performances against the world's best players. One thing is certain, the Canadiens have acquired a defenseman whose potential is simply enormous.
Do you think Lane Hutson will win the title of the best defenseman at the World Junior Championship?q
