The three-goalie situation is becoming a heavy burden for the Montreal Canadiens. Two months after starting the season with what seemed like a temporary arrangement, there's no resolution in sight.

However, this isn't the only major issue on Kent Hughes' desk right now.
As Marc-Olivier Beaudoin astutely points out, a wave of trades is on the horizon, not only due to the trio of goalkeepers but also to make room in the defensive lineup.
With the imminent return of David Savard and Arber Xhekaj, plus Jordan Harris on the injured list, and considering the strong performances of young Jayden Struble, the GM of the Canadiens will eventually need to make room for the latter.
The Canadiens have a young and impressive depth on the blue line. This will undoubtedly be an interesting asset for Hughes to potentially address a need.
Struble is pushing the backs of several regular defenders of the club, and this is without even considering the possibility of young Lane Hutson likely joining the CH towards the end of the season.
With the trade deadline approaching, Kent Hughes has his work cut out for him with two major issues to address.
