During his time in the American Hockey League, Arber Xhekaj was simply dominant, collecting three goals and eight assists (11 points) in 17 games. His excellent performances notably earned him a call-up to the main club, where he has played two games since returning to Montreal.
However, while his performances with the Laval Rocket were truly encouraging, these last two games have been really difficult. The defenseman took three completely unnecessary penalties, putting his team in trouble repeatedly.
In this regard, a rather unusual situation occurred at the Montreal Canadiens practice this morning. The 22-year-old personally went to apologize to Martin St-Louis and his teammates for his actions during the last game.
Arber Xhekaj did not hesitate to admit his faults, and he directly approached his head coach to apologize. Since joining the organization, the sheriff has shown he is ready to do everything to help his team succeed. Despite his mistakes, there is no doubt he wants to be an important element in the Montreal defensive brigade.
Now, let's hope his actions will follow his words, as he must absolutely find a way to perform better if he wishes to keep his spot in Martin St-Louis' lineup.
