Call-Up Looming? The Montreal Canadiens Have Made a Surprising Decision

In the last few hours, the Montreal Canadiens have officially announced that the 27-year-old forward, Christian Dvorak, will be out for the remainder of the 2023-2024 season. Indeed, the number 28 of the Habs will undergo surgery tomorrow due to a tear in a major pectoral muscle.
Knowing that the center player will not return to the lineup anytime soon and that the Canadiens only have eleven forwards in their lineup, many fans expected General Manager Kent Hughes to make a call-up from the Laval Rocket to reinforce the Montreal attack.
However, to the great surprise of the fans, journalist Anthony Marcotte confirmed that all the players of the farm team, except for Riley Kidney who is affected by a virus, are on the trip to Utica for the games on Friday and Sunday. This means that the Canadiens will not make any call-ups for tonight's game against the Buffalo Sabres.
«No call-ups to report from Laval. Everyone is on the trip heading to Utica with games scheduled for Friday and Sunday. This suggests that the CH has the necessary attacking personnel to face Buffalo tonight.» - Anthony Marcotte
We can therefore deduce that Martin St-Louis will decide to line up eleven forwards and seven defensemen for a second consecutive game, a formula that seemed to work well in the 4-3 victory over the Dallas Stars earlier this week.
Here is the lineup that should, in theory, face the Sabres tonight:
Cole Caufield -- Nick Suzuki -- Juraj Slafkovsky
Josh Anderson -- Sean Monahan -- Jesse Ylonen
(rotation) -- Jake Evans -- Brendan Gallagher
Michael Pezzetta -- Mitchell Stephens -- Joel Armia
Mike Matheson -- David Savard
Kaiden Guhle -- Justin Barron
Jayden Struble -- Jordan Harris
Jonathan Kovacevic
Jake Allen
Let's hope that this strategy works again for the Canadiens who are desperately trying to add points to the standings in order to potentially secure a playoff berth.
Do you think the Canadiens will win against the Sabres tonight?
