In the last few hours, the Montreal Canadiens have officially announced that the 27-year-old forward, Christian Dvorak, will be out for the remainder of the 2023-2024 season. Indeed, the number 28 of the Habs will undergo surgery tomorrow due to a tear in a major pectoral muscle.
Knowing that the center player will not return to the lineup anytime soon and that the Canadiens only have eleven forwards in their lineup, many fans expected General Manager Kent Hughes to make a call-up from the Laval Rocket to reinforce the Montreal attack.
However, to the great surprise of the fans, journalist Anthony Marcotte confirmed that all the players of the farm team, except for Riley Kidney who is affected by a virus, are on the trip to Utica for the games on Friday and Sunday. This means that the Canadiens will not make any call-ups for tonight's game against the Buffalo Sabres.
We can therefore deduce that Martin St-Louis will decide to line up eleven forwards and seven defensemen for a second consecutive game, a formula that seemed to work well in the 4-3 victory over the Dallas Stars earlier this week.
