Over the past few weeks, Quebecois goaltender Marc-André Fleury has found himself at the center of an unintended controversy.

Indeed, even though it could have been his last career game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, the team he played with for 13 seasons, his head coach John Hynes decided to send Filip Gustavsson into the fray instead, depriving Fleury of a very special moment.
Furthermore, Penguins fans quickly expressed their displeasure with the head coach's decision, chanting "We Want Fleury" during the first period, creating an awkward situation for both Wild goaltenders.
This decision is all the more baffling considering that the Wild were facing the Boston Bruins the next day. Knowing that Filip Gustavsson is the team's number one goalie, it would have been normal for him to be in goal for that game.
While Marc-André Fleury had been rather silent about the situation, he eventually decided to break his silence on the injustice he suffered. True to his nature, the Sorel-native handled it with great class, stating that he understood his head coach's decision.
"
« At the end of the day, I just want my team to win. Gus has been playing really well for, I don't know, a month and a half. I'll play at some point, so I want to be ready for those games. Beating Boston twice in a row is a nice feeling. » - Marc-André Fleury

Hats off to Marc-André Fleury!
He is undoubtedly one of the best goaltenders to have played in the NHL, but he is first and foremost an extraordinary human being, whose personality is simply radiant. We are very happy to see that he continues to perform this way, despite recently celebrating his 39th birthday.
Since his arrival in the NHL, Flower has recorded an impressive record of 550 wins, 320 losses, and 93 overtime losses, ranking him 2nd in league history for the most wins. He has also accumulated impressive stats with a 0.912 save percentage and a 2.59 goals-against average.
There is no doubt that he will be inducted into the Hall of Fame when he officially retires from professional hockey!
