Major Statement Emerges Following the Corey Perry Controversy
The serious case involving Corey Perry at the Chicago Blackhawks has stirred the hockey world in recent days.
During his recent appearance on TVA Sports, journalist Renaud Lavoie commented on the situation and made several major statements about the former Canadiens player and his future in the NHL.
"It would surprise me greatly if it happens! (that Perry signs with another team). I don't need to tell you that the chances his career is over are very high."
"It makes no sense to end his career like this!" - Renaud Lavoie
In Lavoie's view, it would be very surprising if Perry joins a new team in the coming hours.
During his segment on Jean-Charles Lajoie's show, he went further in his reflection by mentioning that no team would want to associate with the 38-year-old veteran.
"You don't want to be associated with someone who has really troubled an organization. I think it's going to go beyond what the Blackhawks did. If Corey Perry wants to come back to the NHL, I feel it's going to have to go through the commissioner. The chances that his career is over are very high."
The journalist also commented on the situation by saying that the incident that led to the termination of Perry's $4 million contract must be very serious to justify such a major action.
"It's hard to see a guy who was heading straight for the Hall of Fame get kicked out of a team like this. He was specifically hired to set an example. It's not good news. It's a black eye for him and for the NHL, in a way. To see that the Blackhawks are forced to kick him out, after an internal investigation, because his conduct is negative, it's certain that the accusations are serious."
Lavoie ends by delivering a blow to Perry's actions, even using the words: "he destroyed his career."
"It makes no sense to end his career like this. Honestly, where did the judgment go? That's what I find regrettable. We celebrated this player for so many years and he destroys his career like this. It's really a very sad story." - Renaud Lavoie, via TVA Sports website
Around 2 p.m. today, we should expect that no NHL team will claim Perry. Following this outcome, he will become an unrestricted free agent.
However, as Lavoie pointed out, we should expect absolutely nothing for him. Moreover, Gary Bettman probably has this file under his watch.
