In a recent article shared on TVA Sports, Jean-Charles Lajoie commented on the recent interview given by Montreal Canadiens General Manager Kent Hughes on the set of the show "L'Antichambre".

One of the points he addressed was about Logan Mailloux, the Canadiens' first-round pick in 2021.
The popular host directly states that "it is time to recall Logan Mailloux".
Here's what he said about the young defenseman:
« What I like about Hughes's speech is when he talks about Logan Mailloux. The GM likes what he sees from Mailloux in the last 10-12 games in Laval.

What I understand from this is that Mailloux's stint in the American League may be nearing its end. At least, I would like to believe so.

In a transition year like the one the Canadiens are currently experiencing, even though there's no rush, if a young player progresses as Mailloux does in the minors, and if this young player is part of your future as seems to be the case with Mailloux, then you owe it to him to allow him to continue his development with the best.

Nothing says Logan Mailloux wouldn't be just as effective with the Canadiens. Moreover, his shot is formidable, and his offensive contribution allows us to hope for an addition to the Canadiens' arsenal with one more man.

And honestly, I believe that Mailloux in Montreal would instantly be placed behind David Savard in the right flank hierarchy. Mailloux is, in my opinion, superior to Kovacevic, Barron, and Lindström. » - Jean-Charles Lajoie

Everything Lajoie mentions about Mailloux is relevant. The 20-year-old defenseman has undeniable potential, and his progress in his first professional season is very promising for his future.
However, JiC's comments once again illustrate the perfect example of the approach not to follow with the organization's young players. An effort is being made to establish a culture and to give importance to the development of prospects from the organization's affiliates, so why rush everything in a young player's first year?
Yes, Mailloux is showing excellent progress since the beginning of the season, which was largely accentuated since he was paired with Arber Xhekaj, following the Sheriff's arrival in Laval.
But where is the rush in his case? For about a dozen games now, the Rocket is one of the teams of the moment in the AHL. All the young players on the team are collectively benefiting from recent successes. Why remove a predominant element from Jean-François Houle's lineup right now?
As far as I know, there is a surplus of defensemen in Montreal at the moment. Why add another who is just beginning to get comfortable with the farm team?
Let's give the young players time to learn their trade in the minors. We finally have the organizational depth that allows us not to rush young players into the show too quickly. Even if Mailloux were to play a full season with the Rocket this year, where is the problem?
At 20 years old and in his first pro campaign, there isn't one.
