Enthusiasm for the Rocket
It was a hypothesis before the start of the season, but this trend is confirmed; this year, Place Bell is simply electric. After having its best season at the box office in 2022-2023, the Laval Rocket continues this momentum for this campaign.
The fans have brought an average of over 8000 spectators to the games of the Laval team during the first month of the season. By comparison, the average attendance in November will be over 2000 spectators more than last year.
So, it's no surprise that fans can feel the crazy atmosphere that pervades Place Bell this season. In fact, the consensus is clear, the home of the Rocket is a place where the atmosphere is electrifying.
"It's what got me hooked," admitted Richard Leblanc, a season ticket holder for more than four years. "The atmosphere is excellent and we feel that the fan base is there."
The same sentiment is echoed by the Rocket's players. Many have testified to the passion of the fans, including Philippe Maillet.
"It's certain that it doesn't have the same effect when you make a comeback like that in front of what sounded like 30,000 fans! There's definitely an effect in the heart and chest, which is hard to remove. It's adrenaline and it's fun to have," the forward explained after a 5-3 Rocket victory over the Toronto Marlies on Friday night.
Indeed, the Rocket finished among the top-5 in terms of crowds last season, but it is also on track to beat its own mark this season if it maintains its pace.
In fact, the second balcony has been opened for more than half of the games in October and November, a first since the team's inauguration in 2017-2018.
This will also be the case for some of the thematic games coming up in the next few weeks like Friday, November 17 during the Hockey Fights Cancer game and Saturday, November 9 during the teddy bear toss game.
It will be the perfect opportunity for those who want to experience Place Bell and join in the fun.
