Sean Monahan and Jake Allen Trade: Their Most Likely Destinations are Revealed by Insiders
In the NHL, it's usually after the holiday break that teams become more active on the trade market.
With a little more than two months to the trade deadline, the picture is gradually becoming clearer on the next moves that will take place across the league, and the Montreal Canadiens will certainly be a team to watch this year.
Even though the club is still in the playoff race, Kent Hughes is not fooled and knows very well that he must continue his rebuilding work, which involves being a seller again by March 8th.
In connection with movements to be expected in Montreal by then, insiders Pierre LeBrun and Chris Johnston of The Athletic have looked at the potential destinations for two players who are likely to change addresses in the coming weeks, namely Jake Allen and Sean Monahan.
The two insiders have differing opinions on the next team of the veteran goaltender. Lebrun believes Allen will go to Carolina, while Johnston sees him landing in New Jersey.
In both cases, these are two teams that have shown strong interest in him in recent weeks.
Again, two teams are identified by the journalists. LeBrun believes that Colorado will be on the case of Monahan if the main plan with the potential acquisition of Elias Lindholm falls through. For his part, Johnston states that Winnipeg should be seriously watched.
This is an interesting new destination for a Monahan trade, as the Jets have several promising elements that could interest Kent Hughes.
In any case, the GM of the Canadiens is likely to spend a lot of time on his phone over the next few weeks.
