RUMOUR: Brendan Gallagher Traded in a Massive Six-Piece Deal?

According to information disclosed by Bill Scott from the website NHL Trade Rumors, a massive trade involving no less than six elements could occur between the two Canadian teams. Moreover, according to what is mentioned, the General Manager of the Canadiens, Kent Hughes, could acquire a promising prospect in Xavier Bourgault as well as a first-round pick.

Honestly, I find it hard to see how such a trade could really materialize. In addition to parting with a talented young player, the Oilers would also give up a first-round pick, all for a veteran whose best years are behind him, an inexperienced goalie, and an AHL-caliber defenseman?

I don't see how Ken Holland could agree to give up so many assets to acquire three players who have practically no value on the trade market.

As for the Canadiens, while the addition of Jack Campbell would continue the famous goaltending trio, the idea of acquiring another first-round pick and a young offensive forward is very attractive. Moreover, Jack Campbell has a contract similar to Brendan Gallagher's, earning an annual salary of five million dollars for the next three seasons, which would not harm Kent Hughes' salary cap.

Unfortunately, the chances of seeing such a transaction being finalized are quite slim, if not nonexistent.
