MAJOR: Sean Monahan's Fate With the Montreal Canadiens Confirmed

With just a few weeks left until the trade deadline, Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens are ones to watch, particularly due to Sean Monahan being on the market.
The 29-year-old forward will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, and interest in his services is growing day by day across the league.
The GM of the Canadiens currently has a serious boost from the trade market, as the number of buyers significantly exceeds the number of decent center players available.
The only competition for Monahan is Elias Lindholm in Calgary. Although the CH's number 91 has better statistics and a more advantageous salary than the Swedish player of the Flames, his fate will depend on where he goes.
According to what has been reported by the excellent informant Pierre LeBrun, who has discussed with several well-placed people across the league, Monahan could possibly be the plan B for several teams, depending on what happens with Lindholm.
He highlights the names of these four teams as potential destinations for the Canadiens' forward: the Colorado Avalanche, the Winnipeg Jets, the Boston Bruins, and the New York Rangers. He adds that there might be others soon.
Still according to LeBrun's information, his sources believe that Monahan will bring at least a first-round pick to the Canadiens, especially if they retain 50% of his salary.
"Pierre LeBrun on Insider Trading saying that his sources believe Sean Monahan can bring the #GoHabsGo a 1st round pick, especially if they retain 50% of his salary. He says teams will wait 2 to 3 weeks before getting serious and that Monahan's market will be impacted by Elias Lindholm."
It's interesting to note that the market is likely to expand in the next two or three weeks, meaning Monahan's days in Montreal could be seriously numbered.
