The NHL trade deadline is fast approaching, and trade rumors are becoming more and more numerous.

Moreover, as David Pagnotta recently mentioned, several players, such as Sean Monahan, Tanner Pearson, David Savard, and Jake Allen, would be available at the Canadien and could attract the interest of some teams as the playoffs approach.
However, in the last few hours, the excellent Bruce Garrioch has made a very interesting update, mentioning that a star NHL player could potentially change addresses in the coming weeks. Indeed, according to his information, forward Johnny Gaudreau is not untouchable with the Blue Jackets, who is not guaranteed to be part of the team's future plans.
Wow! That's huge!
We are talking about a forward who has scored 237 goals and 468 assists (705 points) in 717 games since joining the NHL. Although he has had some difficulties this season, there is no doubt that Gaudreau has a lot of talent, having accumulated 115 points just two seasons ago. It will be interesting to see if a team will be interested in acquiring him, who is currently earning a salary of 9.75 million dollars.
Furthermore, according to information recently disclosed by The Athletic, a 40-goal scorer could also be available on the trade market soon. This is Pittsburgh Penguins forward Jake Guentzel, who is currently in the final year of his contract.
According to reports, the Pens' general manager, Kyle Dubas, has not yet started discussions about a possible contract extension with his star forward. Moreover, knowing that the team will inevitably have to enter a rebuilding process in a few seasons, we have to wonder if the 29-year-old left winger will really want to sign a long-term deal in Pittsburgh.
Of course, the price to acquire him will be enormous (a prospect and at least a first-round pick), but he would certainly be a major addition to the Montreal attack. The Canadien would have a truly dangerous top 6 with Guentzel in its lineup, who has scored 90 goals in his last 186 games.

The two forwards have not been linked to the Tricolore so far, but it will be very interesting to see if Kent Hughes wants to embark on such a file to bring the team to another level. It would be a real home run for the organization if one of these two players were to land in Montreal!
