Jake Allen Addresses the Media: He Drops a Bombshell on His Current Play Ahead of a Possible Trade

The goaltending situation with the Montreal Canadiens continues to be a hot topic of discussion, especially since General Manager Kent Hughes does not seem willing to part with one of his goaltenders in the near future. He reportedly has high demands on the trade market.
However, while a trade seems inevitable, Jake Allen is currently making things quite difficult for the management. While Kent Hughes is keen to get a significant return for the 33-year-old veteran, Allen continues to deliver subpar performances, undoubtedly diminishing his value among other NHL general managers.
During the team's press conference yesterday morning, the CH's number 34 did not hesitate to acknowledge that he is going through a tough period, indicating that he needs to do more. By somewhat admitting his shortcomings, Jake Allen showed maturity, acknowledging the level of play he has been providing lately.
«I know I need to give more and I am capable of doing so. Obviously, it's harder for me. But I feel like I've been solid in the last five games and that's what I'm focusing on.» - Jake Allen
Certainly, it's not a lack of effort or a bad attitude that's sinking the goalie at the moment, but it must be admitted that his performances are far from encouraging. It's good to see that he's aware of his situation, however, he will especially need to double his efforts on the ice to help the Canadiens win games.
Since the beginning of November, Jake Allen has recorded only one win in ten starts, with a very ordinary goals-against average of 3.92 and an unenviable save percentage of 0.884.
It doesn't give his general manager much leverage to find a new team willing to pay a high price for his acquisition. Hopefully, a team desperate for a goaltender will agree to meet Kent Hughes' demands.
