Carey Price Traded? The Legendary Goaltender Has Commented on the Possibility of Leaving the Montreal Canadiens
In a recent heartfelt interview with journalist Dave Stubbs from NHL.com, Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price shared insights on various topics, including the challenges he faced watching his team play last winter without being able to participate. More significantly, he made an intriguing statement about his future with the organization.
When asked about the possibility of waiving his no-trade clause to facilitate a potential trade, Price was clear. Still considering himself a part of the Canadiens, he expressed willingness to do whatever it takes to help the team succeed, including being traded to give General Manager Kent Hughes more flexibility with the salary cap.
"Definitely, I want to help, no matter how, I'm still part of this team, so if I can help in any way, I'm here." - Carey Price.
Price's commitment to the team's success, even if it means moving his lucrative contract, is admirable. This stance indicates that, like Shea Weber, Price may be traded in the future. While he has not officially announced his retirement and is unlikely to return to play barring an extraordinary turnaround, his contract, valid until 2026, is expected to be placed on the long-term injured reserve list each year. This limits the Canadiens' General Manager's ability to maneuver personnel.
Price's situation, especially considering his willingness to be traded for the team's benefit, is definitely one to watch closely.
