Pierre-Luc Dubois has been in the spotlight, mostly for the wrong reasons, this year. There's now an attempt, by all means, to justify his very difficult season.
The Quebecois only managed to gather 40 points after signing a lucrative contract last summer. The Kings paid a hefty price to acquire him before granting him a solid contract.
The return on investment is clearly not there for the Kings at the moment. In the playoffs against the Oilers, Dubois was almost nonexistent on the ice.
His agent, the well-known Pat Brisson, was interviewed on 98.5 with Mario Langlois and tried to justify the unjustifiable about his client.
Pat Brisson mostly hinted that several teams could find themselves in the Kings' situation currently.
"We must not forget that he is 25, not 33... I had at least 15 to 20 teams interested in Pierre-Luc Dubois. They all did their homework on him."

However, it can be concluded that the interest would clearly not be as high this summer. Pierre-Luc Dubois is trying to rebuild his reputation by representing Canada at the World Championship.
There's talk of contract buyouts and even transactions involving "problematic contracts" in his case. Pat Brisson is also right. Dubois is still young and he could find a way to bounce back as early as next season.
