The Maple Leafs have been in search of a new coach since they dismissed Sheldon Keefe following another defeat in the first round of the playoffs.
The Leafs' management has met with two candidates, and the list appears rather thin compared to the individuals targeted for the head coaching position.
Craig Berube and Todd McLellan are serious contenders. An announcement could be imminent, according to Darren Dreger and other reports.
"There is a real desire within the Maple Leafs' management to settle the matter sooner rather than later," he said on air Monday. "This may be linked to other teams interested in Todd McLellan and Craig Berube. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Maple Leafs hiring their head coach this week."
