Martin St. Louis Confirms Two Lineup Changes
During his press conference this morning, the head coach of the Montreal Canadiens, Martin St-Louis, announced a rather surprising change to his lineup for tonight's game. Indeed, due to Christian Dvorak's injury, the Canadiens will line up eleven forwards and seven defensemen.
26-year-old defenseman Johnathan Kovacevic will make a return to the game, having been left out of the team's last two matches. There's no doubt that this change could prove beneficial for the Montreal defensive brigade, especially since Justin Barron has been having some difficulties recently.
"Johnathan Kovacevic will rejoin the lineup against the Lightning. The team will employ seven defensemen." - Montreal Canadiens
With the absence of Christian Dvorak, Jake Evans is expected to return to his center position, having played on the wing for a few matches. It will be very interesting to see which player takes advantage of this situation to earn quality minutes in the top-6, possibly alongside Sean Monahan and Josh Anderson.
In our opinion, Brendan Gallagher and Jesse Ylonen could be prime options to fill this role in the second unit.
When asked about the changes to his lineup, Martin St-Louis preferred to keep his strategy close to his chest, not divulging how he will concoct his lines for tonight's game. We will therefore have to remain patient and wait for the start of the match to find out for sure.
"Martin St. Louis does not want to confirm how he will change his lines. He will surely have to juggle his roster." - Eric Engels
One thing is certain, the Montreal Canadiens will need to find a way to quickly return to winning if the team hopes to have the opportunity to participate in the spring dance next April.
