A prospect asks to leave the Philadelphia Flyers
Apparently, the Philadelphia Flyers seem to have a problem with some of their prospects.
Let's remember last year, Cutter Gauthier surprised the hockey world by refusing to play for the Flyers, forcing Daniel Brière to trade the player. The Flyers had high expectations for Gauthier, who was chosen fifth overall in the 2022 draft.
Now, the Philadelphia team is facing another crisis. Alexei Kolosov, a 22-year-old goaltending prospect, has reportedly asked for his contract to be terminated, according to journalist Ivan Bogun.
The Belarusian goaltender, who joined the Flyers' AHL affiliate in March, did not have the opportunity to prove himself, being relegated to the role of third goaltender. This lack of playing time might explain his discontent.
Kolosov, considered a top prospect, did not attend the development camp, missing his flight for unconvincing reasons.
Despite his contract running until 2026, he is currently training with his former team in Minsk, although he cannot legally play in the KHL this season.
Finally, it will be interesting to see if another team prospect will wish to be traded this season. Will Matvei Michkov also want to leave the Flyers after being coached by John Tortorella? Stay tuned.
