The Senators have been in search of a new coach since the end of the last season. After a lengthy process, they may have found their man.
Travis Green is reportedly set to become the new head coach of the Sens, as per the always well-informed Darren Dreger.
After coaching the Canucks for nearly six seasons, Green found himself as an assistant in New Jersey. He took over from Lindy Ruff behind the Devils' bench this year.
Jacques Martin was involved in the hiring process after temporarily assuming the role. Daniel Alfredsson had recently joined as an assistant alongside the veteran Martin.
It seems the former Sens star player may not be ready to take on the responsibilities of a head coach, as far as we understand.
Benoît Groulx was also a promising candidate, but he has just accepted a challenge in the KHL, presumably knowing he wouldn't land the job with the Senators.
