Jonathan Marchessault, a standout player for the Vegas Golden Knights for seven seasons, appears to be heading towards unrestricted free agency this summer, at the end of his six-year contract signed in 2018.
At 33 years old, the Quebec native had his best season yet with 42 goals scored, catching the attention of several teams looking to strengthen their roster.
However, according to Tony Marinaro, the Montreal Canadiens should not focus on Marchessault, considering him too small to fit into Martin St-Louis's lineup.
Marinaro advocates instead for acquiring taller players for the team. Although Marchessault's size may raise questions, his talent and accolades, including the 2023 Conn Smythe Trophy, could make him a valuable asset for the Canadiens.
Kent Hughes, Montreal's general manager, could thus satisfy many fans by recruiting the best Quebecois player currently in the NHL.
