Paul Byron, a fan favorite in Montreal, has had some great seasons since being claimed off waivers for free.
Unfortunately, his career has been cut short by injuries. Despite this, he continues to be involved with the team as a player development consultant.
Last year, he worked closely with young talents like Owen Beck, Emil Heineman, Jan Mysak, and Filip Mesar, and observed games of Oliver Kapanen, Blake Biondi, and Cédrick Guindon.
With Kelly Buchberger leaving the Rocket, Byron could have replaced him, but he currently prefers to coach his son's minor hockey team.
He explains that the role of a coach demands too much time, even more than when he was playing. Although he does not rule out this possibility in the future, for now, he is focusing on his current role with the young prospects.
