In the last few minutes, the Montreal Canadiens organization has recruited Zachary Emond, a 24-year-old Quebecois goaltender.
He will play for the Trois-Rivières Lions.
Originally from St-Cyprien, Emond is an imposing netminder at 6 feet 3 inches and 176 pounds.
Selected in the sixth round by the San Jose Sharks in 2018, he posted excellent save percentages of 0.907 and 0.936 in the ECHL over the past two seasons. He also played 12 games in the AHL with the Sharks' affiliate.
Emond joins the Trois-Rivières Lions and is expected to be the 5th or 6th goaltender for the Canadiens, ready to step in if there's an injury at the Laval Rocket.
