In the past few days, we learned that Quebecois goalkeeper William Rousseau from the Huskies has clinched the title of Goalkeeper of the Year in Canada, marking an exceptional achievement for the QMJHL.
Such a succession of excellence recalls the remarkable performances of QMJHL goalkeepers in the late 1990s, when Martin Biron, Frédéric Deschênes, Marc Denis, and Mathieu Garon won this award for four consecutive years from 1995 to 1998. Despite this national recognition, William Rousseau has not yet been drafted into the NHL.
However, the Montreal Canadiens should seriously consider giving him a chance by inviting him to their training camp. His talent and potential certainly deserve to be explored at a professional level.
Will his former head coach in Quebec, Patrick Roy, push Lou Lamoriello to allow him to participate in the Islanders' camp? To be continued.
