Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton have announced a new hiring at the Montreal Canadiens.

Albie O'Connell, former head coach of Arizona State University, becomes the new chief scout for North American players.
O'Connell, already known within the organization, was a scout for the Canadiens in 2022-2023 and has extensive experience in the NCAA, coaching at Northeastern, Harvard, and Boston University. This hiring strengthens ties with Boston in the Canadiens' hockey operations department.
Rumors of his return circulated last month after he left his head coaching position at Arizona State for an opportunity in the NHL, which ultimately turned out to be with the Montreal Canadiens.
O'Connell's arrival could enhance the ranking of American players in future draft sessions.
Welcome back to the organization, Mr. O'Connell!
