Major surprise regarding Ivan Demidov, and it starts off badly with the Canadien

The vast majority of fans were pleased to see that the Canadiens did not overlook a highly talented forward with the selection of Ivan Demidov.

At the 5th overall pick, the Canadiens' management chose the Russian forward who was still available at their first-round selection.

Like many Russian players, contractual issues with their KHL teams are not uncommon. This was also the case with Matvei Michkov of the Flyers, who ended up arriving in North America much earlier than anticipated.

The Canadiens received disappointing news regarding their new prospect. Ivan Demidov will not be able to attend the team's development camp.

Kent Hughes and his colleagues appeared aware of this situation at the time of his selection. However, the wait is still expected to be worthwhile.
