Shortly after the game against the Washington Capitals, journalist Luc Gélinas shared significant news regarding the first overall pick in 2022, Juraj Slafkovsky. Indeed, the Montreal Canadiens forward received a special visit at the Capital One Arena.
While journalists eagerly awaited to discuss with the number 20 of the Canadiens, they were informed that he would be slightly delayed as he was called for a meeting with none other than the Ambassador of Slovakia.
Wow! This speaks volumes about the importance of Juraj Slafkovsky in his native country.
"We waited a long time for Juraj Slafkovsky after the game. That's because the Ambassador of Slovakia had asked to meet him, just like that, as a proud compatriot.
That's an excellent reason!" - Luc Gélinas
We tend to forget, but the 19-year-old is a real star in Slovakia, being the first player from this country to be selected first overall in an NHL draft.
It's safe to say that the millions of Slovak fans closely following his career were very pleased to see him score two magnificent goals last night. If the forward had managed to score most of his goals from the slot this season, he clearly demonstrated that he could also use his blistering shot to beat opposing goalies.
Here are the two goals scored by Juraj Slafkovsky last night:
Having accumulated 14 points, including 7 goals, in his last 19 games, Juraj Slafkosvky's progression is truly impressive. There is a constant improvement in his level of play and in his offensive contribution, which is really promising for the future.
There is now no doubt that he will become a key element in Martin St-Louis' lineup, for many seasons to come.
