During the holiday season, Canadiens fans enjoy following the performances of the team's prospects at the World Junior Hockey Championship. However, the tournament might seem less exciting next December, as there's a possibility that no Montreal prospects will be participating.

For those hoping to see Jacob Fowler back in goal for Team USA, Grant McCagg has quickly put that hope to rest.
The young goaltender is no longer eligible for the tournament due to his birthdate (November 24). He will be considered a 20-year-old, while this tournament is reserved for players under 20.
It's also important to note that Austria (with David Reinbacher) and Russia (with Ivan Demidov) will not be participating in this edition of the championship. Austria did not qualify, while Russia is once again sanctioned by the IIHF for well-known reasons.
The only Canadiens prospect who might still participate is Aatos Koivu. The son of Saku, selected 70th overall in the recent draft, is on Finland's preliminary roster for the summer camp. However, his spot on the final team is not yet guaranteed.
