A transaction has just been completed between the Canadiens and the Capitals
After several months of rumors, the Montreal Canadiens traded defenseman Joel Edmundson last summer to the Washington Capitals.
This decision proved wise as Edmundson, dealing with back issues, underperformed with the Capitals and Maple Leafs, tallying only six points in 53 games this season.
The third and seventh-round picks received in return seemed uncertain at the time but allowed the Canadiens to draft Logan Sawyer (78th overall) and Makar Khanin (210th overall).
Sawyer, a 6'1" francophone center weighing 180 pounds, impressed in the BCHL with 78 points in 59 games for the Brooks Bandits, showcasing his speed and hockey IQ.
Khanin, 19 years old, shone in the Russian VHL with 27 points in 35 games for Dynamo St. Petersburg, highlighting his offensive skills.
It will be interesting to see if these two prospects can stand out with the Canadiens.
