The Montreal Canadiens could very well achieve a first since 2009 with their second pick of the first round. A Quebecers could be chosen.
If the Tricolore does not trade their second first-round pick as they did last year, Kent Hughes and his team will take the stage, for the second time, at the 26th spot.
With this selection, the Montreal team could draft a player native to la Belle Province, which would be a first since the 2009 draft when the Habs selected Louis Leblanc at the Bell Centre.
The name Sacha Boisvert is targeted, as well as those of Maxim Massé from the Saguenéens de Chicoutimi, and perhaps a surprise, with top scorer Justin Poirier from the Drakkar.
Boisvert, a native of the Mauricie, would be ready for such a scenario:
"I am more complete, I work harder, my mentality is that I am always ready to work harder than the person next to me. I am a complete player, I can do everything on the ice, I can play in all roles."
- Sacha Boisvert, 17th best North American prospect
Even though it would be more surprising, here's what Maxim Massé said to encourage Canadiens' executives to select him.
"I think one of my good qualities is that if I have points to work on, I will put in the work to turn it into a strength. At the NHL level, everyone has the skills or the shot, but a big part of it is mental. I am confident that this is what I have more than others."
- Maxim Massé, 30th best North American prospect
If this is the case, this Quebecer will certainly have additional pressure on his shoulders!
