Big news dropped in the NHL yesterday morning. Former star forward of the Chicago Blackhawks and New York Rangers, Patrick Kane, officially signed a one-season deal with an annual salary of $2.75 million with the Detroit Red Wings.
During an appearance on TVA Sports, the famous number 88's agent, Pat Brisson, made a significant revelation about his client and the Canadiens. He mentioned to Jean-Charles Lajoie that the general manager of the Canadiens, Kent Hughes, would have been very happy to welcome Patrick Kane to Montreal.
While Pat Brisson somewhat tried to dodge the question, his answer was quite revealing. However, it seems that salary issues unfortunately prevented this possibility from materializing. Moreover, the Canadiens were not among the preferred destinations, as Patrick Kane wanted to sign with a team that could make the playoffs this season.
Furthermore, according to Brisson, there were three teams seriously interested in acquiring him, but the salary cap prevented some teams from making a formal offer.
