As you know, the Montreal Canadiens made a highly anticipated announcement among the team's fans by officially recalling Quebec forward Joshua Roy last night. The fifth-round pick in 2021 will have the opportunity to play his very first NHL game tonight against the Edmonton Oilers.
Recently, journalist Patrick Friolet confirmed some rather interesting news regarding the Canadiens' prospect. Indeed, Martin St-Louis has made several changes to his lineup, and the newcomer will therefore find himself on the second line alongside Sean Monahan and Joel Armia.
Here is the lineup that, in theory, will face the Oilers tonight:
Cole Caufield -- Sean Monahan -- Juraj Slafkovsky
Joshua Roy -- Sean Monahan -- Joel Armia
Rafael Harvey-Pinard -- Jake Evans -- Brendan Gallagher
Michael Pezzetta -- Mitchell Stephens -- Jesse Ylönen
Mike Matheson -- Kaiden Guhle
Jayden Struble -- David Savard
Jordan Harris -- Johnathan Kovacevic
Justin Barron
Samuel Montembeault
It will be very interesting to see what the forward from Saint-Georges-de-Beauce will be able to do alongside an offensive center like Sean Monahan. Obviously, we would have preferred that he be accompanied by a more talented right winger than Joel Armia, but this combination remains intriguing.
We strongly hope that the forward will also have the chance to get some time on the power play, where his offensive skills could be hugely beneficial on the second wave of the attack.
Moreover, the Canadiens announced an unexpected change regarding the Quebecer, who will not be wearing the number 97 he had during the training camp or even the number 10 he wore with the Laval Rocket. Indeed, Joshua Roy will wear the number 89 during his first appearance with the main club.
Certainly, we are all eager to see him take his first steps in the Bettman circuit. Let's bet that the Canadiens' fans will be very attentive during tonight's game.
