A few minutes before the team's morning practice, an excellent surprise was spotted on the ice at the Bell Centre. Indeed, the former Colorado Avalanche forward, Alex Newhook, skated for about 25 minutes alone, having been sidelined from play since last November 30th.

Recall that the 16th overall pick in 2019 suffered a serious injury against the Florida Panthers, sustaining a sprain to his left ankle. The organization had confirmed that he would need to be out for a duration of 10 to 12 weeks, suggesting he could make a return to play around mid-February.
After a more challenging start to the season offensively, Alex Newhook had finally found his offensive rhythm, accumulating six points in his last seven games. He has notably scored seven goals and six assists (thirteen points) in 23 games this year.
If the forward is able to rejoin Martin St-Louis' lineup in the coming weeks, there is no doubt that he could provide valuable offensive support to the Montreal team.
Certainly, we are eager to see him don the Canadiens jersey, as he will surely energize the top-6. The Canadiens' offense has been struggling in recent games, and the addition of a player as talented as Newhook could be very beneficial.
