In the last few minutes, the excellent Chris Johnston has just confirmed that no NHL team has claimed former Montreal Canadiens forward Corey Perry off waivers.
"Corey Perry (CHI) was not claimed on NHL waivers and sees his contract terminated.
Perry is now an unrestricted free agent." - Chris Johnston
Given the enormous magnitude of the events of the last few days, it was predictable that no general manager would want to acquire the 38-year-old veteran, but now it is official.
This means that the Chicago Blackhawks organization is proceeding with the termination of his contract, making Corey Perry an unrestricted free agent.
This does not bode well for his future in the NHL, as he may potentially be forced to retire eventually.
