The renowned Sportsnet journalist, Elliotte Friedman, suggests that American winger Jake Guentzel could be a target for the Chicago Blackhawks when the free agency market opens on July 1st.
Guentzel, hailing from the Midwest, might catch Chicago's interest, considering it's also situated in the region, and they could need him to play alongside Connor Bedard.
Recently traded from the Pittsburgh Penguins to the Carolina Hurricanes, Guentzel had a strong season with 30 goals and 47 assists in 67 games. In the playoffs, he contributed four goals and five assists in 11 games. Over his career, primarily with the Penguins, Guentzel has amassed 227 goals and 264 assists in 520 games, totaling 491 points. His five-year contract worth $30 million has just ended.
