Kent Hughes Confirms Massive Rumour Regarding Top Prospect Lane Hutson: We Now Know When the Undersized Defenseman is Likely to Make His NHL Debut
Unlike his predecessor, the current general manager of the Montreal Canadiens, Kent Hughes, is more open to giving interviews outside of the organization's framework.
He recently appeared on the popular podcast Sick Podcast and confirmed a major rumor about an upcoming significant signing for the Canadiens. This signing, which could greatly impact the team, is the highly promising Lane Hutson.
"We would like to see [Lane Hutson], once the [NCAA] season is over, sign a contract and begin his professional career." - Kent Hughes
According to Hughes, as soon as the 62nd pick of the 2022 draft finishes his season, he will join the major league team and start his professional career.
This is major news eagerly awaited by many fans. The young defenseman has the potential to become an elite player in the NHL and is undoubtedly the organization's top offensive prospect.
He is once again dominant this year in the NCAA, already totaling eight goals and 20 points in just 15 games. Recall that last year he accumulated no less than 48 points in 39 games, earning him a top-10 selection for the Hobey Baker Award.
His addition to the team will likely solidify several players' roles in the lineup, especially on the power play. Hutson is a magician on the ice and a playmaker on par with the best in his position. He will certainly help improve this weak aspect of the CH's game.
We are eager to see him in action in a few days at the World Junior Championship, where he will be a cornerstone of the American team's defense.
