To the great dismay of Montreal fans, another Canadiens defenseman was injured during the game against the Vegas Golden Knights. Arber Xhekaj had to leave the game following a solid check by Ivan Barbashev, appearing to suffer from a left shoulder injury.

With David Savard and Jordan Harris already out, the Canadiens could find themselves in a tricky situation if number 72 cannot rejoin Martin St-Louis' lineup for Saturday night's game against the Boston Bruins. With no extra defenseman currently on the roster, Kent Hughes might have to make an emergency call-up to compensate for the loss of the Sheriff.
Moreover, if such a scenario materializes, Anthony Marcotte firmly believes that a young Quebec defenseman could be a very interesting option for a few games. This is William Trudeau, who had an excellent training camp last September.
Additionally, the 21-year-old is having a good start to the season, having scored a goal and five assists (six points) in eleven games with the Laval Rocket so far this year.
"Arber Xhekaj injured. My call-up option is William Trudeau. Let's see if the young defenseman will get his first call-up in the NHL. Jayden Struble must serve one last game of suspension tomorrow night and could also be a logical option on the left." - Anthony Marcotte

Certainly, many fans would be curious to see the Varennes-native defenseman make his NHL debut soon. Jayden Struble would also be an intriguing choice, but given that his three-game suspension is not yet over, it would be surprising if he could play with the main team.
Could we therefore witness an official announcement involving the Quebec defenseman in the next few hours?
This is definitely a situation to watch closely, but let's hope that Arber Xhekaj's injury is not serious. His robust style of play would be a crucial asset for the Canadiens in what promises to be an intense match against our rivals, the Boston Bruins.
